Pakistan State Minister Shows Results Of Crackdown On Drug Firms

The chief minister of the Pakistan state of Punjab reported three special task forces have inspected 24 pharmaceutical companies and 30,283 medical stores and their medicines to uncover fake drugs. Mian Shahbaz Sharif said 199 of the 20,101 samples collected were deemed substandard, 49 were fake and the people responsible for them arrested. He also reported 67 cases of illegal ads for the drugs and 2,215 substandard-drug cases taken to court, plus seizure of 755 cases of expired drugs.
