China Health Minister Sounds Alarm Over Third Bird Flu Death

A third death caused by avian influenza has led China's health minister to warn the country may be hard-put to control an outbreak. Minister Chen Zhu said the country faces a possible epidemic situation and planned to appeal to the public to take preventative steps. He told health departments throughout the nation to double their efforts to control the disease at a time of year when human bird flu cases are most common. Hospitals are instructed to use more resources to diagnose and treat the cases.
