Japan's MHLW To Introduce Electronic Collecting System For Clinical Trial Data

To speed up clinical trials, a research and development team was established at Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare with a plan to introduce an electronic data collection system to collect clinical trial data. The MHLW plans to implement the system in key hospitals and regional hospitals in 2009, and expand it nationwide in 2011. The system will be able to electronically transfer data from patient care charts and automatically produce case report forms.
