China To Shift SFDA To Ministry Of Health, More Authority

China's State FDA would be placed under the Ministry of Health as part of a proposed government shakeup and merger of ministries. The SFDA and the MOH now report separately to the State Council. As a result of the move, the MOH is to become the nation's top food and drug agency. According to proponents of the shakeup, drug safety would be strengthened by having responsibility and power clearly defined.
