China Warns Against Donations of Drug Products

China issued a new warning against violations of its strict ban on donations of pharmaceutical products. A State FDA spokeswoman said the ban on donations extends even to drugs and equipment that have been approved only for clinical trials. Generally, the ban on donations covers drugs without SFDA approval and foreign drugs that do not have the approval of the country of origin. Even for legal drugs, the spokeswoman said, the only organizations eligible to accept donations are provincial or state civil affairs and health departments, the Red Cross Society and the China Charity Federation.
