Japan's legislature is expected to pass soon a bill to add at least 33,000 sub-teens to its health insurance rolls. The Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry said the move was required when children's parents fall behind in payments for their own national health insurance. The Diet found children were not being treated as a result, because of the cost. The new law would automatically cover people under 18 years of age, despite their parents' eligibility.
