India's Dr. Reddy's Laboratories is considering an out-of-court settlement with Sanofi-Aventis of France, which brought suit to protect its patent for Allegra D24 (fexofenadine) extended-release drug for treating allergies. Under the settlement plan, Sanofi would pay Dr. Reddy's as much as $25 million and allow it to market a generic after 2014, when the patent expires.
