Merck Subsidiary Banyu Pharmaceutical To Close Down Tsukuba Research Center

Tokyo based Banyu Pharmaceutical announced Oct. 23 the company will close down its research center in Tsukuba by December 2009. The move is part of a global realignment in basic research initiated by Banyu's parent company Merck. The Tsukaba research projects will be moved to other centers. Merck's new strategy is to consolidate basic research centers into specific therapy areas such as diabetes, oncology, vaccines and infectious disease. (Click here for more - Japanese language
