Executive Summary
Several companies have begun expanding Japanese services for clinical trials to other parts of Asia. Firms that already have committed to the expansion beyond Japan provide contract research to Japanese drug makers interested in lowering their costs by conducting trials in more than one country at a time. Among those expanding abroad are Itochu's Acronet, which has a partnership with Protech Pharmaservices of Taiwan, to obtain a presence in Singapore, Malaysia and elsewhere in Asia. Other Japanese firms abroad include EPS setting up a Hong Kong subsidiary and Cmic, already taking orders for services in Asia. (Click here for more - a subscription may be required
