Tokyo-based Taisho Pharmaceutical will launch Ace Ax, an over-the-counter cold medicine containing ambroxol hydrochloride, a pharmaceutical ingredient that leads to the easy expulsion of phlegm. Until recently, the use of blended ambroxol hydrochloride has been limited to prescription drugs; due to a relaxing of Japanese regulations, it became an OTC medicine.
