Thailand's Chemists Get a Poor GPP Rating (Thailand)

Thailand's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that only 136 pharmacies in Thailand out of over 10,000 meet Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) standards set by the World Health Organization. FDA secretary-general Siriwat Tiptaradol announced the news at a GPP seminar held on June 27 in Southeast Asia that brought together officials and pharmacists from Thailand, Australia, Japan, India, South Korea, and 10 other nations. This "GPP standard is recognized as a means to protect consumers," said Tiptaradol. He said his agency plans to inspect every pharmacy in Thailand and raise national standards.
