Philippines House Approves Drug Bill Allowing Price Caps (Philippines)

Executive Summary

The Philippines House passed unanimously the "urgent" Cheaper Medicines Bill that would, in part, create a regulatory board to oversee the price of drugs. Creation of the board is one of the main differences between the House and Senate versions of the legislation. Under the House, such a board would have the authority under the proposed law to set the maximum retail price of pharmaceuticals and formulations.
