Executive Summary

The World Health Organization (WHO) has published The Selection and Use of Essential Medicines (including the Model List of Essential Medicines for Children), a report compiled by a subcommittee of the WHO Expert Committee, with the aim of drawing up the first WHO Model List of Essential Medicines for Children. Made available from August 17th, the report contains a summary of committee considerations for the inclusion of particular medicines in the list; justifications for these medicines; and a summary of medicines to be reviewed before the next subcommittee meeting.
