Korean nominated for WHO post

Dr Shin Young-Soo has been nominated as the World Health Organization's next regional director for the Western Pacific. The South Korean national, currently a professor at Seoul National University, will succeed Dr Shigeru Omi of Japan next February 1st. The nomination remains subject to confirmation by the WHO's global executive board in January.
