Dendreon names new CEO

Executive Summary
Seattle, US-based Dendreon has appointed W Thomas Amick president and chief executive officer of the company – effective immediately. Mr Amick has also been appointed to Dendreon's board of directors. He succeeds John H Johnson, who previously announced his plans to step down as CEO for personal reasons. Mr Johnson will work with Mr Amick through to 15 August 2014 to ensure a smooth transition, Dendreon said. Most recently from 2010 to 2012, Mr Amick was chair and CEO of Discovery Labs, a specialty biotechnology company.
