Menarini earmarks €800m for onco ADCs from Oxford BioTherapeutics

This article was originally published in Scrip

Executive Summary

Menarini is reconfirming its biotech ambitions by pledging to commit around €800 million in the next 10 years in five antibody programs it is accessing from Oxford BioTherapeutics. The announcement comes just 16 months after the private Italian pharma business revealed that a Phase III trial of abagovomab, a mouse anti-idiotype monoclonal antibody that mimics the CA-125 antigen, which is highly expressed by ovarian cancer cells, had failed to confirm the expected levels of benefit seen in previous studies with ovarian cancer patients.
