Hospira appoints new senior vice-president of operations

Hospira has named John B. Elliot as its new senior vice-president of operations, with effect from 16 April. Mr Elliot will take on overall responsibility for Hospira's global operations organisation. Hospira says that under Mr Elliot's leadership, the firm will move ahead its plant remediation strategies and create additional manufacturing capacity, including a 1.1 million square-foot state-of-the-art facility in India. Mr Elliot who was previously an operations consultant, has served as president and chairman of Cherokee Pharmaceuticals, a manufacturer of active ingredients bought by Merck & Co. He also spent 25 years at GlaxoSmithKline. His most recent position there was senior vice-president.
