Executive Summary
Bruce Darling, currently vice-president for laboratory management at the University of California, is due to join the National Academy of Sciences and National Research Council as executive officer over the next few months. He will succeed E William Colgazier, who now serves as science and technology adviser at the US Department of State. At the University of California, Mr Darling has been responsible for management oversight of three national laboratories operated by the university for the US Department of Energy.
