Following the announcement of Andrew Witty's knighthood (scripintelligence.com, 4 January 2012), pharma leaders continue to gain national recognition as Gudbjorg Eggertsdottir, president of Actavis Iceland, has been awarded the Order of the Falcon in Iceland's New Year's Honours. Ms Eggertsdottir was presented the order by president of Iceland, Olafur Grimsson, in recognition of her "remarkable contribution to healthcare and the national economy". She has been active in the generics field for over 30 years, and represents the generics industry in Europe through her role as president of the European Generic medicines Association. The Order of the Falcon is the highest honour the Icelandic state can bestow.
