Frederic Wohlwend appointed Merck's new CIO

Frederic Wohlwend will take over from Kai Beckmann as Merck KGaA's Cheif Information officer from 1 April. Mr Wohlwend joined Merck in 2007 when the firm bought the Swiss biotech firm Serono. He served as senior vice-president of information services for Merck's pharmaceuticals business until October 2010 when he became senior vice-president information services for Merck’s chemicals business. Mr Beckmann will join Merck's executive board and assume responsibility for global human resources.
