Executive Summary

Dr Richard Barker, the director general of the UK R&D industry association, the ABPI, is to step down in May 2011 after six years in the post, to let a successor take over the lengthy negotiations that are expected with the UK's coalition government when it introduces value-based pricing (VBP) to replace the Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme (PPRS) in 2014.
