The research-based drug industry association Medicines Australia has written to a senate committee urging that the Parliament should pass before 1 October a medicines pricing bill that aims to save taxpayers Aus$1.9 billion (US$1.7 billion) over a five-year period. The Generic Medicines Industry Association (GMiA), meanwhile, has written to the same committee arguing against implementing the bill.
