Jean-François Dehecq has stepped down as chairman of Sanofi-Aventis after reaching the statutory age limit, to be replaced by Serge Weinberg. Mr Weinberg, founder of Weinberg Capital Partners, has a string of senior roles in French industry and government on his CV. He was co-opted as a director to replace Gunter Thielen last December, and this was ratified by Sanofi-Aventis's general meeting of shareholders on 17 May. Mr Dehecq becomes honorary chairman of Sanofi-Aventis but has resigned from the board. He also becomes president of Sanofi Espoir Foundation, a new corporate foundation that aims to help provide access to healthcare to the most vulnerable. At the general meeting, the mandates of board members Robert Castaigne, Lord Douro, Christian Mulliez and Christopher Viehbacher (CEO) were also renewed.
