Purdue Pharma Canada bolsters R&D workforce

Purdue Pharma Canada is to expand its R&D and manufacturing operations following an investment by the Canadian government. The company will create 50 new research roles that will double the company's R&D capacity in its Pickering, Ontario, facility following a Cdn$4.9 million pledge from the provincial government of Ontario. The company intends to break ground in January. The outlay by the Ontario government is through its Biopharmaceutical Investment Programme, which is part of the government's Next Generation of Jobs Fund. Overall, the province is investing $3 billion in its innovation agenda.
