Billy Tauzin stunned many in the industry when he recently announced that he would resign in June as president and chief lobbyist of the US pharmaceutical industry body, PhRMA (scripnews.com, February 13th, 2010). Close-knit Washington, DC was abuzz with talk that the departure seemed all too sudden and had the look and feel of an ouster at the hands of pharma CEOs. But the 66-year-old told The Washington Post his decision to step down was more a matter of personal timing.
