Even if you weren’t inclined to cynicism, the founding in January of the UK Office of Life Sciences (OLS) within the department of Lord Drayson, the minister for Science and Innovation, might have elicited the question: “Do we really need another organisation within an organisation to stimulate the UK biotechnology industry?” And was it not Lord Drayson himself, who hinted elsewhere that things needed to change?
