Tatiana Golikova, Russia's minister of healthcare and social development, has restructured the ministry, formed new departments and appointed heads, and reshuffled the management of existing departments. The total number of departments has increased by 50% to 20, and 14 new managers have been appointed.
The minister pointed out that the main goal of the reorganisation was to optimise and make more efficient the management of healthcare and social development.
The new departments relating to medicine and pharmaceuticals include those for the development of health insurance (headed by Vladimir Zelenskiy, who most recently was an assistant health minister) and for the organisation of medical care and healthcare development. The former federal agency for high-tech medical care has been re-established as a health ministry department of the same name, and Professor Ivan Dedov has been re-appointed its head.
Oleg Simakov, an IT specialist with no apparent experience in healthcare, has become head of the newly formed department for the comprehensive introduction of information technologies in healthcare. He said that creating a unified information space in healthcare across the country, which he sees as his important task, would help to improve control and financial planning in the field.
