Takeda has established a new subsidiary in Canada for the development and marketing of its products. Takeda Canada Inc is capitalised at Can$19.7 million ($16 million) and based in Mississauga, Ontario.
The move forms part of a wider corporate effort to build up an independent infrastructure in key markets. The new operation, set up under Takeda America Holdings, will seek marketing authorisations for primary care and specialty products, and expects to file its first submission by the end of this year, Takeda said.
Daaron Dohler, now part of Takeda's global alliance team, has been named president and general manager, effective April 1st.
The Japanese firm already has a well-established independent commercial operation in the US, Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America, based in Deerfield, Illinois.
