This article was originally published in Scrip

Executive Summary

GlaxoSmithKlinehas stated that it will begin disclosing educational and charitable grants provided to US health-related organisations as of February 2009. The quarterly report will list grants provided to hospitals, teaching institutions, managed care organisations, professional associations, patient advocacy groups, and continuing medical education companies. Lilly was the first to agree last year to disclose its grant funding – a move which followed concerns from the US Senate finance committee. In April, AstraZeneca, Pfizer and six other firms said they would also disclose grants.
