Currency effects eat into Bayer's healthcare sales

Bayer'spharmaceutical sales remained flat during the second quarter as negative currency effects rattled sales in the firm's healthcare division. The German group's pharmaceutical segment held steady at €2.6 billion, while exchange rates wiped €250 million from its healthcare division revenues. Bayer's group net profits were also down, falling by 13% to €574 million.
