FDA SURVEY: OVER 48% OF RESPONDENTS USED "NATURAL" PRODUCTS LAST YEAR and of those, nearly 75% felt that natural claims were "very or somewhat important" in a product, FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition Science Policy Analyst and Technical Expert Elisa Eliot told the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association's Scientific Conference and Annual Trade Show. The meeting was held in San Francisco Oct. 23-25. Among other topics, Eliot addressed FDA's recently completed survey of consumer frequency of use of cosmetics, conducted to determine human exposure to the products. The survey consisted of 1,687 telephone interviews of household members aged 14 or older. Sixty-one percent of the individuals surveyed were women.
