Executive Summary
ELA Medical, a Synthelabo subsidiary making pacemakers and ICD's, has formed a joint-venture company with Spain's largest healthcare distributor IZASA. The new venture will be known as ELA Medical IZASA. ELA, which has 10% of the European pacing market, will merge its Spanish interests into the new company and will control 51%. The first product to be launched in Spain will be the Talent range of small-sized, single and dual chamber, dual sensor pacemakers, under the ELA brand names.
