Executive Summary

Canada has approved for sale Sunrise Technologies International's laser treatment for farsightedness (hyperopia). The Fremont, California-based company says that unlike other refractive firms, it will sell its product, called the Hyperion LTK (laser thermal keratoplasty) system, for the same price in Canada as in the US. Pricing the lasers cheaper in Canada has been seen to adversely affect the ability of US doctors to compete along the northern tier of the US, says Sunrise.
