Hayes Medical has received US FDA 510(k) clearance to market its UniSyn modular hip system. The system incorporates a patented locking mechanism, which can connect three components into one femoral hip stem. The product allows surgeons to select from a wide range of distal stems, metaphyseal bodies and neck components to create an optimal implant for each patient, says the El Dorado Hills, California company, which is to target the system to the primary and revision markets.
