Executive Summary
Zoll Medical is to pay about $6.6m in cash to acquire Infusion Dynamics, a manufacturer of an IV fluid delivery device for trauma victims. The main customer to date for the Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania company's FDA-approved Power Infuser is the US military. Zoll expects to expand this market, for example to emergency room settings. It will distribute the product to existing customers of its own noninvasive cardiac resuscitation devices. Fluid resuscitation is used to treat hypovolaemia, or decreased circulatory blood volume, which can lead to shock and death in trauma patients.
