Health sciences firm PerkinElmer (Waltham, Massachusetts) has boosted its offering of lighting products to OEMs after purchasing Opto Technology for an undisclosed fee. Wheeling, Illinois-based Opto specialises in developing light-emitting diode (LED)-based components and subsystems used in surgical lighting, dental/medical exam lighting, photo therapy lighting and medical instrument lighting, as well as in the safety and security markets. This acquisition builds on PerkinElmer’s existing range of LED solutions, which are part of its environmental health business.
