Executive Summary
CMS has made preliminary decisions regarding 112 requests for changes to HCPCS codes for durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies (DMEPOS) in 2007. The agency will hear public comments on the decisions in a series of meetings from April 25 to May 5. During a Program Advisory & Oversight Committee meeting in September, DMEPOS stakeholders stressed the need to update and expand HCPCS codes for their products before competitive bidding is instituted in 2007. Without the update, suppliers under the system may hamper beneficiary access by providing the lowest quality products within each code, they warned (1"The Gray Sheet" Oct. 3, 2005, p. 15)...
