Executive Summary
Judge Samuel Pointer of the U.S. District Court in Birmingham, Alabama rules that the report prepared by former Attorney General Griffen Bell on the company's breast implant business is confidential under the attorney/client relationship and does not have to be released to the public or FDA, according to Dow. The agency had asked the company to release the report ("The Gray Sheet" Jan. 18, I&W-4). Judge Pointer, who has multi-district responsibility for silicone breast implant lawsuits, rendered the decision at a recent pre-trial conference in Washington, D.C.
